RONI MAHLER is a former ballerina who performed principal roles with American Ballet Theatre and the National Ballet of Washington, D.C.
Currently the Artistic Associate of Ballet San Jose, Ms. Mahler was trained by the renowned Madame Maria Yurievna Swoboda in her native New York City.
Following her performing career, she served as director of Dance at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, from 1974-1980. Initiator of the KSU Dance degree program and co-founder of the KSU Dance Workshop, in 1996, she received the first annual Roni Mahler Award, established by Kansas State University to honor outstanding effort on behalf of dance in the Manhattan community.
In 1999, the University completed the building of four new studios, the largest of which was designated for ballet and named the Roni Mahler Studio.
Roni Mahler is the creator of a series of educational materials devoted to ballet technique, as well as a program entitled “Ballet Movement For the Athlete”, which she eventually customized for the Cleveland Browns.
