SYLPHIDES Les Sylphides has been described as "Romantic reverie." Les Sylphides is composed of a suite of dances in the romantic atmosphere of a moonlit park. The sylphides, (magical figures, like the sylph in La Sylphide), dance with the "poet" in search of the ideal. Set to the music of Fredric Chopin, this ballet was first premiered on Mar 21, 1908, with Anna Pavlova, Tamara Karsavina, Olga Preobrajenska and Vaslaw Nijinsky. FRUIT is a solo dance choreographed by former Company
dancer Oscar Hawkins. It is danced to a recording of Billy
Holiday entitled Strange Fruit. He choreographed the solo
for himself while in our company in 1998. He will make an
appearence in his solo again as our guest. Since he left
the Company he has been working and is currently living in
