School Ballet Master

Peter Brandenhoff

Peter Brandenhoff, a native of Denmark, trained at the Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen, before embarking on an illustrious international career. He was a company member of Boston Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, a soloist for over 14 years with San Francisco Ballet, and a guest performer with Les Ballet Grandiva and various international tours across five continents.

Mr. Brandenhoff has had the pleasure of working with many of today’s foremost choreographers, such as Mark Morris, Christopher Wheeldon, and John Neumeier. His repertoire ranges from the pure classical to the very modern, including Balanchine, Petipa, Bournonville, Forsythe, and Paul Taylor.

Teaching and coaching classical ballet has always been a passion of Mr. Brandenhoff’s, and has taken him all over the world. While at San Francisco Ballet, he instigated and taught for an outreach program in South Africa townships. He enjoys working with all levels of professional students, as well as adult students, and has taught and staged Bournonville ballets at the School of San Francisco Ballet and Oregon Ballet Theatre. As a teacher, he combines his classical Danish Bournonville background, known for its strong, fast and clean footwork, with the demands of the wide repertoire of styles expected of dancers today.

Mr. Brandenhoff is thrilled to be a member of Ballet San Jose School’s Principal Faculty as School Ballet Master, and looks forward to helping the next many generations of student dancers to grace the floorboards.
