GloriaSheridanHeadshot.jpgGloria J. Sheridan of Los Gatos has joined the Operating Board of Ballet San Jose.  In addition to her work as a Board member, Sheridan is currently working with the Silicon Valley Capital ClubÕs Charity Committee on plans for a fundraising gala for Ballet San Jose to be held this coming October.  Concerned about long-term viability of the classical arts, Gloria sees nothing but opportunities for Ballet San Jose with its innovative yet classically based repertoire.  Says Sheridan,ÒUnder the passionate and forward-thinking artistic leadership of Dennis Nahat, the multiculturalism of the company members blended with Nahat's global interpretation and technical excellence mirror the future of Silicon Valley and cannot help but be appealing to its residents.Ó

Prior to moving to Los Gatos, Gloria Sheridan developed and maintained a strong affiliation with Arts organizations in Florida.  Holding several leadership positions within the community including nine years on the Board of Directors of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, GloriaÕs values are deeply entrenched in giving back to the community.  With Tallahassee Symphony, she served three terms as Executive Vice President/Fundraising and Development, two terms as President, and several years as Past President, bringing the organization to financial solvency.  She created a legacy of forward-looking entities including the Young Professionals auxiliary group and the PresidentÕs Council to maintain the support of past Presidents and created ÒPops in the ParkÓ, a free outdoor pops concert. Gloria also spearheaded plans for a state-of-the-art amphitheater.

Community service has also included serving on Boards of the Refuge House, a battered womenÕs shelter, the Florida Council of International Development and the Steering Committee of the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes.

Currently, she is active in the Silicon Valley Capital Club and serves as Chair of the WomenÕs Luncheon Series, as well as a member of the Culinary Committee, Events Council and Executive Committee.  As an avid cook and lover of fine cuisine and wine, she is a member of Chaine des Rotisseurs, a culinary organization.

Vocationally, Gloria spent over 20 years self-employed in the garment industry, culminating that part of her career with a line of high-end womenÕs sleepwear, achieving unprecedented recognition and success in Paris as well as the United States.  After a devastating earthquake in 2001, followed by the tragedy of 9/11, Gloria turned her talents to real estate and is currently a Residential Specialist Realtor with Sereno Group in Los Gatos.  She  has pledged to donate 10% of her real estate commissions resulting from her Ballet connections to Ballet San Jose.
